LAVERN H. MEYER
Lavern H. Meyer, the son of Gustof and Eda (Suhr) Meyer, was born on July 2, 1928 in Scribner, Nebraska. He served in the Army in Germany after graduating from Scribner High School. Lavern married Lisalotte Bunz on October 10, 1954. She passed away in 1983 and Lavern later married Donna Doorenbos on November 26, 1983. Lavern was a farmer, self-employed in several cafes in Nebraska, Minnesota and Iowa. He worked for Village Northwest in Sheldon for over twenty years. Lavern and Donna operated L & D Sewing and Variety Shop in Boyden. He passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City, Iowa, reaching the age of 87 years, 3 months and 26 days.
Lavern was a member of Parkview Assembly of God Church in Sheldon. He enjoyed family and Army reunions, singing, fishing and traveling.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Donna Meyer of Boyden, Iowa; three daughters and their spouses, Lillian and Danny Rager of Dakota City, Nebraska, Linda and Don Trimble and Lila and Dale Jurries both of Sioux City, Iowa; one son, Glen Meyer of Boyden, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Corey (Listi), Kyle (Jenni), Abigail, Donald (Katie), Michael, Bryan (Tiffany) and Lisa; four great grandchildren, Ashton, Cole, Gracie and Donald(Tucker); also other relatives and friends.
Lavern was preceded in death by his first wife Lisa; parents; three brothers, Donald, Lowell and Orville.
May Lavern rest in peace. He was a good and faithful servant
and a friend to all whom he touched during his lifetime.
