            Services for Krystal L. Lancaster, age 37, of Fort Riley, Kansas who passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023.  Her funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon with Pastor Brian Dunn ~ officiating.

            Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

            Visitation with family present will be from 12 (Noon) -1 P.M. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

​Krystal L. Lancaster, the daughter of Charles and Janice (Vander Plaats) Oertel was born on May 4, 1985 in Loveland, Colorado.  She graduated from Thompson Valley High School in Loveland and went on to further her education earning an associate degree from University of Maryland University College.  She was united in marriage to Clayton Lancaster on August 12, 2005, in Loveland, Colorado.  To this union four sons were born, Wyatt, Colton, Justin, and Derek.  After their marriage, Clay was stationed at Schweinfurt, Germany, Fort Hood, Texas, Hohenfels, Germany, Fort Carson, Colorado and Fort Riley, Kansas.  Most recently Krystal worked in customer service for Ibotta Care for a couple years while staying at home raising their boys.  Krystal passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023, reaching the age of 37 years, 10 months, and 21 days.

​Left to cherish her memory are her husband Clayton and their boys, Wyatt, Colton, Justin, and Derek of Junction City, Kansas; her father, Charles Oertel of Junction City, Kansas; siblings, Shon (Linda) Oertel of Orange City, Iowa and Chad Oertel of Sturgis, South Dakota; parents-in-law, Doug (Debbie) Lancaster of Berthoud, Colorado; also other relatives and friends.

​Krystal was preceded in death by her mother, Janice Oertel and brother, Lonnie Oertel
