KATHRYN WOLF
Kathryn Wolf, the daughter of Jacob E. and Susanna (Stahl) Wipf, was born May 7, 1920 on a farm west of Freeman, South Dakota, where she received her education in a country school. In 1941, Kathryn moved to Sheldon, Iowa where she worked as a waitress in the Quality Café. On September 11, 1942, she was united in marriage to Judson N. Wolf in Schuyler, Nebraska. After living on several farms around Hospers, Judson and Kathryn made their home on the Wolf Century Farm in 1954. The couple continued to make their home on the farm. She has been a resident of the Rock Valley Manor for the past five years. Kathryn passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2006, at the Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley, Iowa, reaching the age of 85 years, 8 months and 22 days.
Kathryn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon, Iowa and of the Laicos Fellowship Group of which she had held the office of secretary for a year; she was also a member of the Farm Bureau. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Iowa Women’s Bowling Association for over 40 years; She started golfing at the age of 70; she enjoyed gardening (and will always be remembered for her cucumbers); quilting, making blankets, raising chickens and would on an occasion drive a load of cattle to either Sioux City, Iowa or Sioux Falls, South Dakota. But her most favorite times were her 50th Wedding Anniversary, the Century Farm Celebration and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathryn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Judson of Rock Valley, Iowa; and their daughters, Barbara Jone Triplett of Blair, Nebraska; Evelyn and her husband, Marty Cline of Moorhead, Iowa; Muriel and her husband, Roger Koedam of Rock Valley, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Teresa and her husband, Chad Van Zee; Kyle Koedam; Adam and Grant Triplett; Niki and her husband, Matt Frerichs; Jewel and her husband, Chad Nickolisen; Mindy and her husband, Jade Nuzum; nine great-grandchildren; RJ and Olivia Van Zee; Emma, Nickolas and Sydney Frerichs; Chloe and Jackson Nickolisen; Jada and Noah Nuzum; four brothers and sisters, Herman and Inez Wipf and Elizabeth Gross all of Freeman, South Dakota; Susie and Rheiny Hofmann of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; Naomi and Norm Braun of Albia, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister in infancy, Eli and Annie Dorothy Wipf; two sisters, Barbara Wipf and Mary Schmeichel and a brother Jacob Wipf.
