KATHLEEN S. DERIDDER
Kathleen Shirley DeRidder, the daughter of Pete and Mary (Fjeld) Flick Sr. was born April 6, 1926 in Scotland, South Dakota. She moved to the Paullina area with her family and received her education in Paullina and later graduated from Primghar High School in 1945. On November 18, 1947, she was united in marriage to Bertus DeRidder at the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. After their marriage, the couple began farming in the Primghar area until purchasing their own farm northeast of Primghar where the couple farmed for many years.
Kay was a homemaker for several years when the children were young. In addition to working with her husband on the farm, she worked at the Primghar school as janitor, at the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar in central supply, and for Public Health as a home health aide. The couple retired and moved into Primghar in 1984. She passed away at Pearl Valley Rehab and Nursing in Primghar reaching the age of 91 years four months and five days.
She was baptized and later confirmed at the Siloam Lutheran Church in Paullina and was currently a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar and was very active with the Grace Lutheran women and quilters. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, baking, cooking, playing cards and especially quilting. She made quilts for her children, grandchildren and even her great grandchildren.
Kay leaves to cherish her memory her husband of nearly 70 years, Bertus DeRidder Sr. of Primghar, Iowa; three children;

Jerry & Gloria DeRidder of Primghar, Iowa
Karen & Larry Stewart of Scotland, South Dakota;
six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one on the way

She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Maelynn Kay DeRidder, parents, one brother, Pete Flick and a sister-in-law, Velma Flick.
