JOEL C. BJORK

Joel Charles Bjork, the son of Charles and Jane (Bruggom) Bjork was born November 20, 1954 in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his education in schools in Archer, Sheldon and later in Paullina graduating from Paullina High School in 1973. While in high school he was a football captain, his number was 61. He was on the track team and played the trumpet in the band. He went on to attend Iowa State University in Ames and later Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. While in Columbus he also attended Art School. He returned to Iowa in the 1980s. He became a resident of the Pride Group Home east of Primghar in January of 2009. He passed away at the Pride Group Home on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 reaching the age of 59 years, 11 months and 1 day.
He enjoyed sports, reading, art, photography and being in the outdoors.
Joel is survived by his mother, Jane Bjork of Paullina; four sisters and their husbands, Sherri (John) Larkin of Omaha, Nebraska; Kim (Jeff) Hurtig of Sheldon; Susan (Steve) Wallin of Paullina and Kathy (Dennis) Edwards of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews, Mackenzie and Jack Larkin; Beau and Chase Hurtig, Taylor, Travis, Shara and Jake Wallin, Adam, Nick, Tanner Edwards; also great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bjork on September 4, 1983.
