JENNIE H. OLDENKAMP
Jennie Hilda Oldenkamp, the daughter of Peter and Rena (Woudstra) Van Meeteren, was born March 20, 1921 on a farm near Sheldon, Iowa. She received her education in Hospers and graduated from the Hospers Christian School. On August 20, 1947, Jennie was united in marriage to Henry Oldenkamp in Sheldon, Iowa. The young couple made their home in Hospers for a couple of years before moving to Boyden. Jennie and her husband were the custodians of the First Reformed Church in Boyden for 23 years before retiring in 1984. Jennie moved into Autumn Park Apartments in Sheldon in 1994. Her husband, Henry, preceded her in death on July 1, 1994 in Sheldon. She continued to make her home at Autumn Park until September of 2002, when she became a resident of the Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon. Jennie passed away on December 16, 2004, at the Care Center, reaching the age of 83 years, 8 months and 26 days.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden, Iowa and she enjoyed baking, gardening, cooking and reading.
Jennie leaves three children to cherish her memories, Glenda and her husband, Mike Olesen of Newton, IA; Doug Oldenkamp of Spencer, IA; Marilyn Oldenkamp of Boyden, IA; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Van Heuvelen of Sheldon, IA; a brother and his wife, Walter and Leora Van Meeteren of Grand Rapids, MI; two sisters-in-law, MaryAnn Van Meeteren and Grace Van Meeteren both of Sheldon, IA; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Adrian and Charles.
