JAMES M. NORDGAARD
James M. Nordgaard, the son of O. Marvin and Marjorie (Verduin) Nordgaard, was born May 26, 1947 in Valley City, North Dakota. Jim graduated from Litchville High School in Litchville, North Dakota in 1965; he went on to graduate from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa in 1969 with Bachelors in Arts. He taught Science and had been a football, basketball and track coach while in Sanborn, Iowa. In later years Jim drove truck for Schuster Trucking out of LeMars as an owner/operator. On December 22, 1988, he was united in marriage to Annette Louise “Nettie” Buren in Sheldon, where the couple made their home. Nettie preceded him in death on September 18, 2005. Jim remained in his home until he passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the George Community Good Samaritan Center in George, Iowa, reaching the age of 61 years, 9 months and 2 days.
Jim was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon, the Sheldon Golf Course and was a life-time member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, shooting, guns, golfing and his dog, Maggie.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Lee and his wife, Amanda Nordgaard of Sheldon, Iowa; Jesse and his wife, Kayla Nordgaard of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two step-children, Pam Buren of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Dane and his wife, Kerri Buren of Sheldon, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Brandon Nordgaard; Harrison, Bailey and Luka Nordgaard; Alisyn Nordgaard; Dominic, Brittany and Alyssa Buren; two brothers, Les Nordgaard of Visalia, California; Dennis and his wife, Lucy Nordgaard of Knoxville, Tennessee; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie; his parents.
