JAMES A. STREUFERT
James A. Struefert, the son of Charles and Lorene (Noethe) Streufert was born August 23, 1921 on the family farm near Sutherland, Iowa. He received his education in Sutherland graduating from the Sutherland High School. On July 1, 1943, he was united in marriage to Rozaire Miller at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm north of Sutherland where they lived for over 60 years. The couple farmed and raised golden retrievers. His wife preceded him in death on November 25, 2003 in Primghar. Jim remained on the family farm and moved to the Milford Care Center in Milford, Iowa in May 2006. He passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa reaching the age of 87 years, 8 months and 19 days.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland. Family was very important to Jim and family gatherings were always special. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and his golden retrievers.
Jim is survived by his three children, Sharon and her husband, Jerry Ward of Milford, Iowa; Jim Streufert of Sutherland, Iowa and Lisa and her husband, Scott Johnson of Hartley, Iowa; also seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister and her husband, Bernice and Bob Syndergaard of Sutherland; also other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter-in-law, Judy Streufert; his parents and a special friend, Laura Rohlfsen.
