JAMES A. MILLER
James Cotton Alison Miller the son of Charles and Tillie (Visser) Miller was born October 31, 1939 in Sheldon, Iowa. He attended school in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School. While growing up in Sheldon he was active in sports at school, the Boy Scouts, and attended Bethel Reformed Church. He later joined the U.S. Navy serving on three ships the last being the U.S.S. Cacapon; serving from 1958 until 1962. He saw tours in Japan and the Philippines. After his discharge he worked for a casino in Las Vegas, Nevada before returning to Sheldon. He remained in Sheldon for a short time before moving to California. He furthered his education graduating from Glendale College in Glendale California. He was united in marriage to Angie Elardo and to this union one daughter, Michelle was born. James worked for thirty three years for the Southern Pacific Railroad in payroll administration. James later married Betty Glenn and the couple made their home in California where Betty helped him study and later he was baptized into the Adventist Church. Together they traveled to many countries. He passed away at the Adventist Hospital in Glendale, California on Friday, December 25, 2015 reaching the age of 76 years, 1 month and 24 days.
James is survived by his wife, Betty of Tujunga, California; his daughter, Michelle and her husband, Steve Sett of Zionsville, Indiana; two grandchildren, Katie and Logan Sett; three sisters, Armetta Dawson, Benadine Snyder and Tillie Staedtler; also other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Sandy Boger and Pat Johnson and one brother, Charles Miller.
