Funeral services for Irene Segelke, age 96, of Paullina who passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Accura Care in Cherokee. Her services will be 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina with Pastor Sheryl Puderbaugh, officiating.
Burial will be at Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland.
Visitation with family present will be from 10 A.M. Saturday until the time of service at the church.
Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.

Irene Lavaune Segelke was born September 7, 1926 in Glenham, South Dakota to Otto and Nellie (Reekers) Pekelder. She was baptized on October 31, 1926. Irene moved from South Dakota with her family to Sutherland, Iowa at the age of 7. She went to country school, Waterman #1 east of Sutherland. She graduated from Sutherland High School in 1945. Irene was united in marriage to Burnelle S. Segelke on February 15, 1947. She spent her married life on the Segelke farm 2 miles west of Sutherland. In 1983, Burnelle passed away and Irene moved to Paullina in 1985. The last several months she had been a resident of Accura Care in Cherokee, Iowa, where she passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. Irene loved dancing, playing cards, reading, crocheting, sewing quilts and loved her house plants. She crocheted many blankets for people.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Gary Pekelder of South Sioux City, Nebraska; two daughters, Janet Becker (friend Bill Elliott) of Des Moines, Iowa; Judy (Dwane) Riedemann of Sutherland, Iowa; four grandchildren, Grant (Cheri) Riedemann; Michael (Hilary) Riedemann; Brooke (James) Hansen, Michelle (Tom) Mullins; nine great grandchildren, Christopher (Amanda), Alexa (Tyler), Gavin, Olivia, Sydney, Maya, Noah, Candence and Aisley; three great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Maxwell and Kain, also many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burnelle, parents, Otto and Nellie, in laws, Harry and Nettie Segelke, three sisters, Esther Olson, Alice Fisiraro, Betty Martin, brother, Junior Pekelder, son-in-law, John Becker, granddaughter, Kimberly Sue Becker, two brothers-in-law, Donald Segelke and Gordon Segelke.
