IDA E. WIESE
Ida E. Wiese, 83 years, of Paullina who went to her heavenly home surrounded by her family, peacefully made her way to the arms of the Lord, on January 8, 2011.
Ida was born June 16, 1927, in Cherokee County, to Hugo and Emma (Streufert) Gerstandt. Ida was baptized as an infant and later confirmed at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Calumet, Iowa. Ida received her education at the Larrabee Consolidated School and graduated in 1945. After graduation she worked for her Dad on the family farm. On December 3, 1950, she was united in marriage to Delbert Wiese at the church in Calumet. The couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They made their home on a farm in the Calumet/Larrabee area, working side by side tilling the soil. Ida was active in the Calumet church, teaching Sunday school for ten years and holding various offices in the Ladies Fellowship. In 1985, the couple retired and moved into Paullina, at which time they became members of the First Presbyterian Church. Ida became active in the women’s group at church as well as several organizations in town.
Her family was her joy beyond measure. Ida took great pride in caring for her home and flower gardens, especially roses. Many will remember her for the beautiful tables she set when entertaining. Throughout the years, Ida and Delbert enjoyed traveling in the United States.
