HOWARD H. HALSTROM

Howard Harmon Halstrom, the son of Ed and Edna Halstrom, was born on October 5, 1917 in Cherokee County, Iowa. He attended a country school in Cherokee County through the 8th grade. On March 29, 1941, Howard married Minnie Rohlfsen. They moved to Paullina and made it their home. They had two children, Jeff and Carolyn.
Howard served in the United States Army from January 1943 to August 1945. He fought in World War II in Italy, where he was wounded. He spent 9 months in hospitals in Indiana and Colorado. After his service he went into the trucking business for twenty years. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. Howard later moved to the Paullina Care Center on October 30, 2002. He passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2005 at the Paullina Care Center, reaching the age of 88 years, 1 month and 29 days.
Howard leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Minnie; a son and his wife, Jeff and Carol Halstrom of Yuma, Arizona; a daughter and her husband, Carolyn and John Greiner of Henderson, Nevada; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Jones of Paullina, Iowa; Joyce Grinstead of Idaho; two brothers, Dale Halstrom of Olympia, Washington; Irwin Halstrom of Downy, California; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Brehm, Ruth Halstrom and Dorothy Halstrom; two brothers, Vernon Halstrom and Richard Halstrom; and his parents.
