Our Holiday Memorial Service
Sunday, December 9, 2012

Greeting:

Opening Prayer: Romans 8:38-39

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)
(All together) Amen.

Hymn: “I Found the Answer”

Death is Nothing At All
Poem by Henry Scott Holland ~ 1847-1918

Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright
round yon virgin mother and child; holy infant so tender and mild, sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night, Shepherds quake at the sight, glories stream from heaven afar, Heavenly hosts sing alleluia: Christ, the saviour is born! Christ, the saviour is born!
Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love's pure light, radiant beams from your holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth. Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.

As we extinguish these candles, keep in mind that only the Flame is extinguished and that their memory will carry on in our hearts. We all know that they would want us to carry on.
