HERMAN P. ZYLSTRA
Herman Paul Zylstra, the son of Peter H. and Kathryn K. (Kuipers) Zylstra was born February 12, 1944 in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his education at Christian school both in Sheldon and in Hull, later graduating from Sheldon High School. He furthered his education for a couple years at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. He returned to the Sheldon area and farmed with his father, worked at Vogel Tire and drove school bus for the Sheldon School District in the Archer area. He moved to Moline, Illinois and later to the Davenport, Iowa area. He was employed at a professional bakery; an advertising agency in the Quad cities area, and in general construction. Most recently he worked cutting wood for people and as a handyman. He was known in his neighborhood as a good neighbor always willing to lend a hand and to help anybody. He passed away at his home in Davenport on Friday, December 4, 2009 reaching the age of 65 years, 9 months and 22 days
He is survived by two sisters, Sharon Zylstra of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Elizabeth Zylstra of Akron, Iowa; an aunt, Ann Zylstra Dalman of Maple Lake, Minnesota; and a friend and neighbor, Sue Whambly of Davenport, Iowa; also many other relatives and friends.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
