HENRIETTA UITTENBOGAARD
Henrietta Uittenbogaard, the daughter of William and Marie (Vande Vegte) Meendering, was born February 2, 1918 on the family farm near Rock Valley, Iowa. She received her education in a country school near Rock Valley, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Edward Wallace Uittenbogaard on September 17, 1947 in Rock Valley, Iowa. After their marriage they settled on a farm in the Boyden and Sheldon area, where they farmed for many years. In their retirement the couple remained on their family farm until moving into the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon and later to the Good Samaritan Society Home in George, Iowa. Edward passed away on September 30, 2007 in Sheldon, Iowa. Henrietta remained in the Good Samaritan Society Home in George, Iowa where she passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society Home in George, Iowa reaching the age of 98 years, 9 months and 21 days.
Henrietta was a member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower garden, crocheting and spending time with her children and granddaughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy and her husband, Thomas Eichacker of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and her son, Harlan and his wife, Kathy Uittenbogaard of Windsor, Colorado; 2 grandchildren, Sarah Eichacker and Ian Daniel; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Henrietta is preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents, a brother, John Meendering; and 6 sisters, Gertrude Post, Jennie Den Boer, Ann De Boer, Wilma Meendering, Maria Kruizenga and Nina Feekes.
