HAROLD S. REITSMA
Harold Stanley Reitsma, the son of Peter A. and Maggie (Faber) Reitsma, was born the youngest of 11 children on July 25, 1935 in Bigelow, Minnesota. He received his education in Bigelow, Minnesota and later high school in Worthington, Minnesota. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until being discharged in 1958. On January 4, 1956, he was united in marriage to Wilma J. Van Hunnick at the Methodist Church in Bigelow, Minnesota. After his discharge from the Air Force, the couple made their home in Worthington, where Harold was employed at Hawke & Company and later at the Continental Grain Company, where he retired in 1994. His wife preceded him in death on November 23, 1992. On June 13, 1999, he was united in marriage to Marian L. Ginger at the United Church in Primghar, Iowa. After their marriage the couple made their home in Primghar. He entered the Primghar Care Center in December of 2004. He passed away at the care center on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, reaching the age of 69 years, 8 months and 24 days.
He was confirmed in the Christian Reformed Church in Bigelow, Minnesota and was currently a member of the United Church of Primghar. He enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and golf. He also enjoyed gardening and tending to birds.
Harold leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Marian Ginger Reitsma of Primghar, Iowa; two sons, Daniel H. Reitsma and his fiancée, Ruth Wear of Mankato, Minnesota; Dale E. and his wife, Kim Reitsma of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a daughter and her husband, Dana M. and David Fischer of Sartell, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Adam, Matthew and Josh Reitsma; Jack and Patrick Fischer and Ruth’s children, Elise, Kristin, Nicole and Michael; two brothers and their wives, Andrew and Margaret Reitsma of Sioux City, Iowa; William and Mona Reitsma of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Pearl and her husband, Joseph Van Hulzen and Leona Johnson all of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister-in-law, Elaine Reitsma of Pierre, South Dakota; also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; his parents; two brothers, Francis and Theodore; four sisters, Elizabeth Van Gelder; Inez Blume; Hermina Gosen and Nelvie Schol.
