HARLAN A. “BILL” WEETS
Harlan Albert “Bill” Weets, the son of Harm and Bertha (Janssen) Weets, was born June 7, 1937 in Westbrook, Minnesota. He received his Barber degree at the Sioux City Barber College. On June 12, 1958, he was united in marriage to Elaine Lamfers at the First Baptist Church in Sibley, Iowa. After their marriage the couple settled in Sheldon, where for 44 years he operated Bill’s Barber Shop. The couple remained in Sheldon until moving to Ocheyedan, where they have lived for the last five years. The last few years Bill has been in semi-retirement. He passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center, reaching the age of 70 years, 1 month and 28 days.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sheldon. He enjoyed fishing, working on older homes, being handi-man and he was always willing to help his family.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 49 years, Elaine of Ocheyedan and their children, Debra and her husband, Doug Radunz of Ocheyedan, IA; Dean and his wife, Michelle Weets of LeMars, IA; Sandra and her husband, Jeff Rieger of Sioux Falls, SD; Jacquelyn and her husband, Richard Kramer of Worthington, MN; and Carol and her husband, Pat Howey of Aurelia, IA; also fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three brothers, Jim and his wife, Phylline Weets of Rapid City, SD; David Weets of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Dennis and his wife, Jan Weets of Grandview, WA; also four sisters, Fran and her husband, Warren Mellema of Omaha, NE; Betty and her husband, Ron Teerink of Worthington, MN; Mary and her husband, Charles Wark of Palisade, MN; Bonnie and her husband, Mark Halleen of Waukesha, WI; and a sister-in-law, Leola Weets of Worthington, MN; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred and Ken Weets.
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall
not want. He maketh me to lie
down in green pastures; He leadeth
me beside still waters. He
restoreth my soul; He leadeth me
in the paths of righteousness for
His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil; for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort
me; Thou preparest a table before
me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou anointest my head with oil,
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life;
and I will dwell in the house of the
Lord forever.
