GRACE ELIZABETH THOMPSON
Grace Elizabeth Thompson, the daughter of Dallas and Elizabeth (Levins) Thompson was born May 23, 1911 in Larchwood, Iowa. She attended the Alvord Public School, Sioux Falls College and Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) at Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught in the rural schools of Lyon County and the primary grades in Lester and Larchwood, Iowa. Grace shared her teaching skills with the very young, by teaching catechism classes at St. Patrick Parish, before the school was built. Her ability in math helped her gain bookkeeping positions with St. Patrick Church, Rollins Tot-Shop and the Corner Drug Store all in Sheldon. Grace passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Prairie View Campus in Sanborn, Iowa, reaching the age of 95 years, 4 months and 21 days.
Grace was member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, St. Patrick’s Guild and St. Patrick’s Missionary Association. She enjoyed music, caring for others and was especially proud of her Irish heritage.
Grace leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Myva (Thompson) Anderson of Sheldon, Iowa; Corrynn Thompson of Sanborn, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Adrian “Tommy” Thompson and Verle of Lake Elmo, Minnesota; four nieces, Maureen, Margaret, Yvonne “Vonnie” Anderson and Teri Selden; a nephew, Greg Thompson; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, La Vohne; an infant brother, Bernard John; a brother-in-law, Maurice F. “Mike” Anderson; and a niece, Sandy Thompson.

HRIST BE WITH me,
Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort me and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
