Glenna Mae Farnsworth was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Born to Bettie (Moore) and Francis Fisher on April 4, 1949, in San Diego, CA, Glenna grew up in a Navy family, moving frequently across the country before settling back in the San Diego area in the early 1960s. She graduated from Granite Hills High School in 1967, where she formed lifelong friendships with Noreen and Susan, whom she considered sisters.
After high school, Glenna worked as a waitress while living with her family in El Cajon, CA. She later pursued data processing and secured a position as a Secretary for Navy Captains at the North Island Naval Base. In 1968, Glenna met the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” Farnsworth, during a night out dancing. They married on July 24, 1970, in La Mesa, CA, and moved to Iowa in 1971 to be closer to Tom’s family. Together, they had two children, Timothy “Tim” and Franklin “Frank.”
Glenna held various jobs before attending NCC for computer programming and EMT training. She worked as an EMT for Archer Ambulance alongside Tom for many years and later served as an associate at Hartley Melvin Sanborn schools, retiring in 2011.
Glenna’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. You also couldn’t walk away from a conversation without hearing about her four baby brothers, Robert, Kenneth, Keith, and Matthew. She also truly enjoyed time with friends, participating in card club or being a part of the 3M group through church.
Glenna was a bright light, full of energy, laughter, and kindness. Her warm, friendly nature made everyone feel welcome, and she had a unique ability to brighten even the quietest moments. Her faith and ability to connect with people were truly inspiring.
In July 2023, Tom and Glenna moved to Lakeville, MN, to be closer to family. Glenna passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, in Burnsville, MN, surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Tom; her sons, Tim (Teresa) and Frank (Maria); her grandchildren, Elisabeth (fiancé Rob), Alaina (fiancé Mason), Addison, Olivia, and Landon; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bettie and Francis Fisher; her in-laws, Dorothy and Earl Farnsworth; and her brother Robert.
