GLADYS EBEL
Gladys Ebel, the daughter of Herman and Effie (Roelfson) Hulst was born May 27, 1926 on the family farm near Hospers, Iowa. She received her education in a country school and later attended one year of high school. On April 26, 1948, she was united in marriage to Paul Ebel in Primghar. After their marriage the couple settled in Primghar. Gladys was a homemaker and raised the couple’s two sons. She also babysat for families in Primghar. Paul preceded her in death on August 7, 2006 in Primghar. Gladys remained in the family home until moving to the Primghar Care Center in May of 2010. She moved to Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn on July 26, 2010. She passed away at Prairie View on Monday, August 9, 2010 reaching the age of 84 years, 2 months and 12 days.
She was a member of the United Church of Primghar and the American Legion Auxiliary in Primghar. Her husband always had a large garden and Gladys always enjoyed doing the canning from his garden.
Gladys is survived by her two sons and their wives, Larry and Elaine Ebel of Sheldon, Iowa; Daryl and Barb Ebel of Primghar, Iowa; three grandchildren, Chad and Carol Ebel of Omaha, Nebraska; Kelly and Tina Ebel of Cherokee, Iowa and Becky and Mike Rader of Bronson, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Tony and Nikki Ebel; Ethan and Jacob Rader; and Sammi Stange; a sister, Harriet Stevens of Sheldon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six brothers, John, Everett, Marion, Henry, Dick and Nick Hulst; four sisters, Tracy Dolphin, Maggie Dolphin, Margaret Vanden Bosch and Jennie Groendyke.
