GLADYS E. RIEDEMANN
Gladys Edna Riedemann, the daughter of Henry F. and Augusta (Busche) Otte was born September 18, 1913 in Litchville, North Dakota. She received her education in country schools in the Litchville area. On September 18, 1941, she was united in marriage to Vernon H. Riedemann at the Trinity Lutheran Church near Litchville, North Dakota. After their marriage the couple began farming in the Litchville, North Dakota area, where they farmed for nine years. Gladys and Vernon moved to Iowa and the Sutherland area, where they farmed for eight years. Later they moved to the Riedemann family home farm, three miles east of Primghar, where the couple farmed with Vernon’s father for many years. In 1971, the couple moved in to Primghar. Vernon preceded her in death on February 21, 1993 in Primghar. Gladys remained in the family home until moving to the Primghar Care Center in September of 2007. She passed away at the care center on Saturday, March 29, 2008, reaching the age of 94 years, 6 months and 11 days.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar, and the Afternoon Circle of the church, where they enjoyed quilting. She enjoyed reading, gardening and while on the farm she enjoyed raising chickens and selling the eggs. Her family was especially important to Gladys.
Gladys is survived by two sons and their wives, Vern L. and Donna Riedemann of Marcus, Iowa and David H. and Liz Riedemann of St. Peters, Missouri; one daughter and her husband, Elizabeth A. and Kenneth Miller of Primghar; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; also other relatives and friends.
