Georgiann Holtrop, age 89, of Sheldon, Iowa passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa. Her services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Brian Dunn ~ officiating.
Burial will be at 10:15 A.M. on Thursday, April 3, 2025 in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation with the Family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.
Arrangements are under the care of the VanderPloeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Georgiann Marlene Holtrop was born to George and Hermina (Bosman) Brinks on January 16,1936 in Sioux County, Iowa. She was raised on the family farm near Boyden, Iowa. She was baptized and made profession of faith at Boyden First Reformed Church. She attended country school till the 5th grade than went to Boyden Public School. She graduated high school in Boyden Iowa in 1953.
She worked in a grocery store in Boyden Iowa until she married Alvin Holtrop on May 23, 1958 at the Boyden First Reformed Church. They moved to the farm where they lived for 35 years. She worked in the flower shop in Sheldon, waitressed in the Sheldon Sale Barn, worked at Mr. B's and Lady B's, and volunteered at the Sheldon Dinner Date. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa. She loved the lord and loved being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is remembered by her children, Rhonda Loges of Hawarden, Iowa, Rick and Carmen Holtrop of Sheldon, Iowa, Michelle Holtrop of Sheldon Iowa, and Michelle and John Sachen of Sheldon, Iowa along with her 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Alvin Holtrop and two sons Brian and Arlyn Holtrop. Her parents George and Hermina Brinks, Four sisters: Infant-sister, Gerdena Brinks, Joan Wolthuizen, Berendena Scholten, and Hermina Schiebout. Two brothers: Gerrit and John Brinks. Sisters-in-law: Henrietta Brinks, Marie Brinks, brothers-in-law: John Scholten, Andy Wolthuizen, and Abe Schiebout.
