GEORGE REEKERS
George Reekers, the son of Joe and Martha (Nagel) Reekers, was born April 26, 1928 on a farm in Sioux County, Iowa. George attended country school. On July 19, 1950, George was united in marriage to Margaret Noordhoek at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. After their marriage the couple made their home on the Reekers family farm where George had lived on since 1936. The couple farmed for many years. They moved into Sheldon February 5, 2011.George passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at his residence in Sheldon, Iowa, reaching the age of 82 years, 9 months and 20 days.
George was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon; he was on the Ritter Elevator Board for 12 years. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working on the farm, bird watching, vacationing, sightseeing, car rides, his horses, and loved life.
George is survived by his wife of 60 years Margaret of Sheldon, Iowa; one son, David and his wife Carol Reekers of Sioux Center, Iowa; two daughters, Janet and her husband Marty Ennor of George, Iowa, and Beth and her husband Ron Shuck of Sheldon, Iowa; three grandchildren, Brian and his wife Crystal Williams, Dina and her husband Jeff Vander Wilt, and Stacie Van Beek; nine great-grandchildren, Austin, Cheyenne, Rachel, Alexis, Makayla, Aubree, Aidan, Taylor, and Addisen; two brothers, Art and his wife Angie Reekers of Orange City, Iowa and Merle and his wife Jeanette Reekers of Sheldon, Iowa; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Brian, grandson Jeremy and his parents.
