GEORGE J. SCHOLTEN

George Scholten, the son of Jan and Ella (Diekevers) Scholten was born February 22, 1935 in Boyden, Iowa. After graduating from Western Christian High School, George served in the Army. George was united in marriage to Clara Van Der Weide on June 26th of 1958. George then worked for Berghorst House Moving and later Bakker Brothers Movers. George attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa studying diesel mechanics. George worked for Joe’s Ready Mix as a mechanic till his retirement in 1999. George passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at his home near Doon, Iowa reaching the age of 76 years, and 27 days.
George was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God and a past member of the Worldwide Church of God. He enjoyed fixing cars, yard work, cleaning his truck, and studying the Bible. George will be remembered as a good husband, father, and grandfather.
He leaves to cherish his memory his five children, Jason and his wife, Diane Scholten of Rock Valley, IA; Randy and his wife, Michele Scholten of Milaca, MN; Kevin and his wife, Eunice Scholten of Hayward, CA; Yvonne Scholten of Hull, IA and Mary Scholten and her husband, Joel Smith of San Francisco, CA; nine grandchildren, George D. and wife, Sandra; Gregory P. and wife, Lizette; Glen J., Grant M., Joshua T., Jacob M., Jeromie J., JoAnna P. and Jonathan M.; three great-grandsons, Levi J., Jason C. and Pablo J.; two sisters, Henrietta and her husband, Leroy Dykstra and Betty Van Tubergen and her husband, Ed; a sister-in-law Berendena Scholten; and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Clara; his parents, a brother, John Scholten; two sisters and their spouses, Jeanette and her husband, John Sybesma and Grada and her husband, John Vander Lugt.
George will be remembered as a good husband,
father, and grandfather.
