FRED HUTCHINSON
Fred Hutchison, the son of Warren and Kate (Talsma) Hutchison was born October 2, 1917 in Springfield, South Dakota. He attended school in Springfield later graduating from Springfield High School. On January 14, 1940, he was united in marriage to Lois Ann Lueders at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. The couple made their home on a farm two miles south of Matlock, where they raised a family of three children. Fred farmed for many years and for over 30 years, he was employed by the Iowa State Department of Agriculture as a livestock inspector. The couple moved from the farm into their home in Sheldon in 1967. Lois preceded him in death on June 1, 1996 in Orange City. Fred continued to make his home in Sheldon. He passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the Sanford Heath Center Senior Care in Sheldon, reaching the age of 90 years, 2 months and 11 days.
Fred was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and visiting with his many friends.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Roger and Mary Ellen Hutchison of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Karel Ann and Norm Beltman of Alton, Iowa and Karen Kay and Jim Ahrenholtz of Denison, Iowa; four grandchildren, Sheila Zanela, Sharla Schmidt, Patricia Ahrenholtz and Jay Ahrenholtz; two great-grandchildren, Avery Ahrenholtz and Mateo Zanela; also other relatives and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, two grandchildren, Jill and Kip Ahrenholtz; his parents and one brother, Vern.
