FLORENCE HOGER
Florence Hoger, the daughter of George and Emma (Tesch) Klein, was born March 24, 1909 in Chicago, Illinois. She moved with her family to the Paullina, Iowa area, where she received her education at Zion Lutheran School in Paullina. On January 1, 1938, she was united in marriage to Albert E. Hoger in Sutherland, Iowa. After their marriage the couple began farming in the Langdon, Iowa area until moving to a farm near Hartley, Iowa. The couple farmed for many years until retiring in 1966. The couple moved into Paullina in 1969. Her husband preceded her in death on April 22, 1987 in Sioux City, Iowa. She remained in the family home until moving into the Paullina Care Center in August of 1994. She passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at the Paullina Care Center, reaching the age of 95 years, 11 months and 22 days.
She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and later confirmed on May 20, 1923 at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina and was currently a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland.
Florence is survived by a sister, Neva Ohme of Paullina, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, Dorothy; her parents, two sisters and their husbands, Grace and Bill Fjeld and Edna and Henry Pauling; a brother and his wife, Ray and Joy Lund; and a brother-in-law, Norman Ohme.
