EVELYN H. WALLIN
Evelyn H. Wallin, the daughter of Henry J. and Frieda (Friedricksen) Kruse was born October 2, 1921 in rural O’Brien County, Iowa. She received her education in Calumet and graduated from Calumet High School. On May 25, 1941, she was united in marriage to Leonard Wallin at the Bethel Lutheran Church parsonage in Sutherland, Iowa. After their marriage the couple started farming southeast of Paullina, where they farmed for 45 years until retiring in 1986 and moving into Paullina. The couple’s retirement years were spent in Paullina. Evelyn passed away on Monday, August 18, 2008 at her home in Paullina, reaching the age of 86 years, 10 months and 16 days.
She was baptized on June 4, 1922 and later confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church on May 14, 1942 and was still currently a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and the Concordia League of the church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards and her special once a year trip with her family.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of over 67 years, Leonard of Paullina; one son, Warren and his wife, Shelly Wallin of Omaha, Nebraska and one daughter, Karen and her husband, Tom Riedemann of Cherokee; a brother, Vernon and his wife, Evelyn Kruse of Larrabee, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, LaVonne Rae of Sioux City and Luella Wallin of Paullina; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lester and his wife, Velma Kruse.
