ETHEL O. BEERMANN
Ethel O. Beermann, the daughter of Friederich and Anna (Stoeckmann) Schuknecht, was born March 24, 1925 in Caledonia Township of O’Brien County, Iowa. She received her education at St. John Lutheran School in Germantown. On June 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Edward W. Beermann at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. The couple’s married life has been spent in the Germantown and Paullina, Iowa area. Ethel was employed at various local businesses in Paullina, working 3 years at Lange’s Café, 10 years at United Foods, 3 years at the Paullina Care Center and later at the Paullina Bakery. Before her retirement, she worked for 5 years at Cenex in Paullina. She passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at her home in Paullina, reaching the age of 80 years, 3 months and 22 days.
She was baptized on April 25, 1925 and later confirmed on April 10, 1938 and was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, where she served in various offices; she had been an assistant Sunday School Teacher and was in the church choir and bell choir. She was a member of the Silver and Gold and had volunteered with the Braille workers from 1985 until the present.
Ethel leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Edward of Paullina; her children, James Beermann of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Joyce Burns of Paullina, Iowa; David and his wife, Sandy Beermann of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Carrie Burns; Cory Beermann; Rob Burns; Rindee Beermann; Bryce Beermann; Rachelle Beermann; one brother and his wife, Eugene and Betty Schuknecht of Paullina, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Beermann of Paullina, Iowa and Elnora Axdahl of Stillwater, Minnesota; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Fred, Eldred and Burdette and two brothers-in-law, Alvin Beermann and Sigwald Axdahl.
