ESTHER M. HAZE
Esther Haze had a gift of Love for children and was a music lover, so consequently she taught piano for many years.
Esther Marion Mlazgar was born at Lakefield, Minnesota on February 12, 1916 to Verna (Starkweather) and George Mlazgar. In 1919, she moved to Boyden, Iowa, where she spent her childhood and graduated from the Boyden High School in 1934. She studied piano and was involved in numerous musical activities in church and in the community. On April 18, 1940, she was united in marriage to Laurence Haze of Sheldon in the Boyden United Presbyterian Church. They were blessed with a son, Dean Alan.
She was a member of the Sheldon United Methodist Church, where she served on various boards and committees, and sang with the Senior Choir for many years. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and officer of the Band Parents, an Election Official for 35 years and served on both the Sheldon and Boyden Centennial Committees and the Boyden High School Reunion Committees. Esther passed away on Friday, March 31, 2006, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center – Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa, reaching the age of 90 years, 1 month and 19 days.
She and Laurence were Travel Escorts for Allied Tours for several years. Esther enjoyed many hobbies, especially Photography, Scrapbooks, Philatelic and other collections, plus Visiting, this was No. 1, she was a people person. All those who had the pleasure to pass through Esther’s life, knew of her fondness for initiating a conversation and her genuine interest in the lives of others.
Esther will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Laurence of 65 years; her son, Dean of Denver, Colorado; cousins, her extended families and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
We have lost someone very special. Thank you for sharing in our grief.
