ESTHER E. ROHRS
Esther Eleanora Rohrs, the daughter of Louis and Leona (Peters) Schwebach was born on May 6, 1923 in Granville, Iowa. She attended school in Granville, Iowa. On February 9, 1947 she was united in marriage to Elmer Rohrs in Cherokee, Iowa. The family made their home in Paullina before moving to a farm near Lawton, Iowa. Elmer passed way in May, 1962 and Esther and her five youngest children returned to Paullina where she worked at the Wide View Nursing Home in Paullina in various positions for twenty-five years ending as the Dietary Supervisor. After her retirement she remained in Paullina until entering Wide View Nursing Home then transferred to Sutherland Care Center. Esther passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, Iowa reaching the age of 91 years, 11 months and 2 days.
Esther was a long time member of Siloam Lutheran Church in Paullina and recently a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland. She enjoyed music, dancing and loved finding a great deal at garage sales. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she especially loved the children. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh with her family and friends.
Those left to cherish Esthers life are her children, Robert and his wife, Florence Rohrs of Antioch, Illinois; Patty and her husband, Larry Sands of Merrill, Iowa; Jim Rohrs of Paullina, Iowa; Tom and his wife, Freva Rohrs of Paullina, Iowa; David and his wife, Bonnie Rohrs of Sutherland, Iowa and Mary and her husband, John Sherman of Broomfield, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Mary, Roxanne, Rob, Vera, Troy, Todd, Jennifer, Vanessa, John and Kyndra; many great and great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Sally Plueger, Lillian Koch and Betty McConnell; one brother, Richard Schwebach; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Bill, her parents, three sisters and a brother.
