ESTHER B. MOOS
Esther Bertha Moos, the daughter of William and Bertha (Hafermann) Meinen was born August 23, 1938 in Massbach, Illinois. She moved with her family to the Hull area where she received her education in Hull schools graduating from Hull High School. On October 26, 1957, she was united in marriage to James Moos in Sheldon, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived in Fort Campbell, Kentucky while Jim was in the Army. The couple returned to Iowa and settled in Paullina to make their home and raise their family. Esther was employed by the Paullina Schools as a bus driver for over 20 years. She was also employed at the Piccadilly Pizza and before her retirement at Tot on Ten Day Care. Her husband preceded her in death on November 11, 1989 in Primghar. She continued to make her home at the family home in Paullina. She entered the Paullina Care Center on Tuesday, December 11, 2007. She passed away at the care center on Friday, December 14, 2007 reaching the age of 69 years, 3 months and 21 days.
She was an active member of the Siloam Lutheran Church in Paullina and was active in the Bible Study of the church as well as the women’s circle; she was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Paullina Music Club. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing and socializing with her many friends.
Esther leaves to cherish her memory three sons and their wives, Mark and Tomi Moos of Clay Center, Kansas; David and Darla Moos of San Angelo, Texas and James Jr. and Pam Moos of Des Moines, Iowa; also six grandchildren, a brother and his wife, Paul and Judi Meinen of Urbandale, Iowa and three sisters and their husbands, Carol and Leonard Schmitt of Sioux City; Teddi and David Grinnell of Cloquet, Minnesota and Priscilla and William Mienen of Postville, Iowa; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, Jody in 1958; her parents and a twin brother, Ernest.
