ERNEST C. PAULSEN
Ernest Claude Paulsen, the son of Ernest and Denna (Smyths) Paulsen was born on November 13, 1927 in Melvin, Iowa. He attended a country school near Melvin. In his early years he delivered ice and worked for the Illinois Central Rail Road. Ernie was united in marriage to Joyce M. Schwarz at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon. After their marriage the couple made their home in Sheldon where Ernie worked as an auto mechanic at different dealerships in Sheldon; Koopmans, D&H, Verschoor, Bilsland and Hamills. Joyce preceded him in death on April 13, 2000; Ernie remained in his home until passing away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa reaching the age of 89 years and 13 days.
Ernie was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon. He enjoyed listening to Polka Music and loved the Pull Tab Lottery Game.
Those left to cherish Ernies memory are his 2 sons, Martin Francis (Rhonda) Paulsen of Beaverton, Oregon and Ronald Lee (Fran) Paulsen of San Manuel, Arizona; 5 grandchildren, Martin Alexander Paulsen, Timothy Ernest Paulsen, Amy Marie Lopez, Ashley Marie Paulsen and Ronald Lee Paulsen Jr.; 6 great-grandchildren, Martin Alexander Jr. and Angelique Paulsen, Aalyah, Alexys, Amaya and Lily Paulsen; 4 great-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, Bev Rozeboom of Sheldon and Jerri (Jim) Konz of Hospers, Iowa; 2 brothers-in-law, Dean Sickman of Linn Grove, Iowa and Herman (Dorothy) Schwarz of Sheldon; along with relatives and friends.
Ernie was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; a son, Thomas; his parents, 4 brothers, Fred, Herman, Pete and Gus and 2 sisters, Christina Roetman and Margaret Schnider.
