EMMA A. WOELBER
Emma Augusta Woelber, the daughter of Wilhelm Claus Henry and Marie (Binder) Meyer was born July 11, 1913 in Lyon County, Iowa near Rock Rapids. She received her education in Sioux County country school. On April 16, 1937, she was united in marriage to Johannes C. Woelber at her parents’ home in rural Boyden. After their marriage the couple farmed and Johannes worked for various farmers in the Boyden and Sheldon area. The couple retired and moved into Boyden. Her husband preceded her in death on August 8, 1983 in Sheldon. She remained in Boyden until moving to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon. In January of 2006, she moved to the Good Samaritan Home in George. She passed away at Good Samaritan on Sunday, November 2, 2008 reaching the age of 95 years, 3 months and 21 days.
She was a lifelong member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Boyden and was a charter member of the Dorcas Society of the church. She enjoyed spending time with her family along with quilting, baking, crocheting and playing cards.
Emma is survived by her four sons and their wives, August and Carolyn Woelber and William and Katherine Woelber all of Boyden; Fredrick and Wanda Woelber and Wayne and Nancy Woelber all of Sheldon; also 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, a sister-in-law, Elsie Meyer of George; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, eight brothers and sisters, John, Ernest, Albert, William, Meta, Minnie, Martha and Katherine.
