ELLEN F. HELLMANN
Ellen F. Hellmann, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Conroy) Snyder was born December 20, 1917 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She received her education in Cedar Rapids and graduated from high school in 1936 and Coe College in 1940. On December 7, 1940, she was united in marriage to Clifford Hellmann in Cedar Rapids. After their marriage the couple lived in various places while Cliff served in the Army. In 1946, the couple moved to Paullina where they farmed south of Paullina for many years. After their retirement the couple remained on the family farm. Ellen passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 92 years, 11 months and 26 days.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, the Presbyterian Women and Home Group of Paullina. She enjoyed doing art work.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 70 years, Clifford of Paullina; two daughters, Catherine Jacobson of Bellevue, Washington and Mary Rohlfsen of Bloomington, Illinois; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Gladys Cunningham of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Alice Thompson; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Fee and Dorothy Carpenter.
