ELEANOR M. BLANKERS
Eleanor Marlene Blankers, daughter of Bert and Gertrude (Leemkuil) Blankers was born May 29, 1940 on a farm north of Sheldon, Iowa. She received her education from the Sheldon Community School System graduating from Sheldon High School in 1958; she then went on to graduate from Northwestern College in Orange City in 1962. Eleanor taught 1st and 4th grades and also Special Reading Classes in Sheldon for 37 years. She retired in 1999.
Eleanor continued to live in Sheldon after her retirement. In April of 2015 she moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon. She moved into Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley, Iowa in August of 2015 and passed away there on Monday, January 4, 2016, reaching the age of 75 years, 7 months and 5 days.
Eleanor was an active member of First Reformed Church in Sheldon, where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Business of Professional Women, holding offices as District Director and President of the Local Chapter. She was Miss Prairie Queen in 2004 and enjoyed collecting dolls, giraffes and light houses.
Left to cherish Eleanors memory are her many cousins, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Gertrude Blankers.
