ELDON L. LARSEN
Eldon Lee Larsen, the son of Peter and Gladys Adelaide (Pingrey) Larsen, was born in Primghar, Iowa, on November 22, 1925. He received his education in the Primghar School System. He served in the United States Army from 1951 – 52 during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the service he returned to the Primghar area. He was united in marriage to Margaret Miles on June 13, 1954 in Cherokee, Iowa and made there home in the Cherokee. Eldon had worked Kenneth Maurer Construction, hauling gravel; farmed southwest of Paullina and had worked as a security guard for Vortec Kolberg of Yankton, South Dakota before retiring in 1990. Eldon had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Estherville, Iowa, before moving to the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown, Iowa in December of 2006. He passed away at the Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown on Saturday, March 17, 2007, reaching the age of 81 years, 3 months and 23 days.
Eldon was of the Lutheran Faith and greatly enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Larsen of Estherville, Iowa; two daughters, Betty and her husband, Jay Drury of Estherville, Iowa; Susan and her husband, Jerry Copatach of Ferron, Utah; three grandchildren, David Stevenson; Jacob Young and Brandi Young; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Justin Young and an infant sister, Betty Elaine Larsen.
