EDWARD W. UITTENBOGAARD
Edward Wallace Uittenbogaard, the son of Gerrit and Nelsena (Boerhave) Uittenbogaard was born April 18, 1918 in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his education in country schools. He was called into the service during W.W. II, serving in the Army from 1942 until his discharge in 1946. On September 17, 1947, he was united in marriage to Henrietta Meendering in Rock Valley, Iowa. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm in the Boyden-Sheldon area, where they farmed for many years. In their retirement the couple remained on the family farm until moving to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon and later moving to the Good Samaritan Home in George to make their home. He passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center reaching the age of 89 years, 5 months and 12 days.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden and was a 50 year member of the William Monster Post # 272 of the American Legion of Boyden. He enjoyed spending time with his family and farming the family farm.
Edward leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Henrietta of George; one son, Harlan and his wife, Kathy Uittenbogaard of Windsor, Colorado and a daughter, Nancy and her husband, Thomas Eichacker of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Sarah Eichacker and Ian Daniel; one sister, Margaret Moret of Sheldon and a brother and his wife, Willis and Mina Uittenbogaard of Boyden; a sister-in-law, Cora Uittenbogaard of Primghar; also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Art Uittenbogaard.
