EDNA ALICE FRISBEE
Edna was born February 14, 1910, at the Dale View Farm near Paullina to William and Edna (LeVee) Simm. When she was sixteen, the family moved into Paullina. That was her residence until 2003, when she moved to the Paullina Care Center.
Edna graduated from Paullina High School in 1927 and attended Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Upon returning to Paullina, she was employed at the Telephone Exchange, the Farmer’s Elevator and later at the First National Bank.
She married Marlowe M. Frisbee on June 21, 1949. To this union one daughter, Mary LeVee, was born and a son James David. Her husband, Marlowe passed away in 1972.
Edna became a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in 1922 and through the years served on numerous committees and held many offices. Throughout her life she was active in many clubs, organizations and patriotic societies. In 1988, she received recognition for 50 years of volunteer service to the O’Brien County Heart Association.
Edna’s love of travel took her around the world, having set foot on every continent except Antarctica. She spent many hours in her garden tending her roses. Other activities, she enjoyed, include reading, baking rolls, making candy, crocheting and entertaining. In 2003, she concluded her genealogy research on the William Simm Family and had it published.
She leaves to mourn her passing a son, James David and his wife, Vickie of Paullina, Iowa; two granddaughters and their husbands, Angela and Mike Richardson of Adel, Iowa and Heidi and Ben O’Clair of Spencer, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Abigail O’Clair; a sister, Ann Pyle of Storm Lake, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Loraine Simm of Cherokee, Iowa and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Mary in infancy; her parents, a sister, Elizabeth; and five brothers, John, infant Willie, Richard, Willie and James; a grandson, Troy and a great-granddaughter, Makayla, both in infancy.
