EDITH WHITED
Edith Hulda Bertha Fechter, the daughter of Henry and Mathilda (Miller) Fechter was born May 2, 1905 in Cherokee County. She received her education in country schools and later attended Paullina High School. On April 22, 1925, she united in marriage to Claude Whited Sr. at Sanborn, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Paullina area until 1949, when they moved to a farm south of Marcus. Her husband preceded her in death in May 10, 1989 in Paullina, Iowa. She entered the Paullina Care Center in October of 2001. Edith passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at the care center, reaching the age of 100 years, 1 month and 26 days.
Edith leaves to cherish her memory her two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Alice Whited of Paullina, Iowa; Claude Jr. and Mary K. Whited of Cherokee, Iowa; and a daughter, Margaret Whited of LeMars, Iowa; two grandchildren, David and Becky Whited of Marcus, Iowa and Diane Whited of Bigfork, Montana; three great-grandsons, Austin, Tyler and Branden Whited of Marcus; a half sister, Gladys Sauer of Milford, Iowa; seven step-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two infant brothers; a half brother and daughter-in-law, Mary Lou; and two step-great-grandchildren.
