E. E. “BUD” BENNER
Eldred Earl “Bud” Benner, was born at Primghar, Iowa on August 2, 1929, the third child of Earl and Elsie (Wienke) Benner. He attended Primghar schools and graduated from Primghar High School in 1946. After graduation he worked on various farms, he also worked at the Skelly Service Station in Paullina and with Logan Kleinheksel as an electrician. Bud joined the Navy in November 1950 and served aboard the USS Rendova until his discharge in September 1954. After serving his country, Bud returned home to Primghar and worked once again as an electrician. On May 13, 1956, Bud married Virginia Hodgdon White in Spencer, Iowa. After their marriage Bud went to work for Crescent Electric Supply Company in Spencer. While working for Crescent, Bud moved his family to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Sterling, Illinois, Rapid City, South Dakota and back to Sioux Falls. In May of 1974, Bud left Crescent and opened his own electrical business in Paullina until his retirement. Virginia passed away on December 5, 1981 in Paullina. Bud passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at the Paullina Care Center, Iowa, reaching the age of 76 years and 26 days.
He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on August 11, 1929 and later confirmed in 1943 and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina and the Russell West Post of the American Legion of Paullina. He enjoyed woodworking, reading and socializing with the coffee bunch.
Bud leaves to mourn his passing three sons and their wives, Jerry and Debbie Benner of Roseville, California; Mark and Brenna Benner of Lafayette, Colorado; Jim and Deb Benner of Granville, Iowa; six grandchildren, Derrick, Alana, Alex, Sasha, Rachel and Leah; two sisters and their husbands, Velma and Marlin Flick of Primghar, Iowa and Earline and Wayne Blahauvietz of Spirit Lake, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Bud Hill of Sutherland, Iowa; and a close friend, Nancy Koob of Paullina, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a sister, Verna Hill.
