DOUGLAS POPPEMA
Douglas Poppema, the son of John and Eleanor (Nieuwendorp) Poppema was born on February 25, 1957 in Sheldon, Iowa. He attended Sheldon High School. After his graduation Doug enrolled in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge he worked construction and later drove truck for JT Trucking out of Sheldon. Doug passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Sanford Health Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota reaching the age of 58 years, 9 months and 16 days.
Doug loved the companionship from his dog Stryker. He enjoyed reading, listing to music, fishing, and hunting and was known for his sense of humor.
Left to cherish the memory of Doug is his mother, Eleanor Poppema of Sheldon, Iowa; siblings, Deb Kolbeck of Boyden, Iowa; Daryl and his wife, Dee Poppema of Sheldon; Darwin and his wife, Joy Poppema of Orange City, Iowa; Diane and her husband, Frank Schnider Jr. of Sheldon and David Poppema of Sheldon; his special friend, Jan Bolkema; several nieces and nephews and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, John Poppema and nephew, Franky Joe.
