Dorothy Laura Brown, the daughter of Clyde L. and Rose (Klink) Webb, was born October 3, 1920, on a farm in Dale Township that has been owned by her family since 1885. She attended country school starting at age 4. In 1937, at age 16, she graduated from Primghar High School with a teaching certificate, but was not allowed to teach because she was under the age of 18. Dorothy received secretarial training at the National Business Training in Sioux City and was employed as the secretary at Graham Flying School at the Sioux City Airport. She continued working at the flying school during World War II, when the school was training U.S. Air Force pilots. She was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol during the war. After the war, Dorothy was employed as a secretary at Hassenger Brothers Insurance in Sioux City. Dorothy married Clyde R. Wilcoxon in April, 1945. Clyde passed away unexpectedly a year later. On February 18, 1948, Dorothy married Clarence Brown of Primghar. To this union three sons were born: Harlan, Kurt and Perry. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning and making homemade bread. She was a talented artist who enjoyed numerous types of arts and crafts which is evident in many oil painting and handiwork that she shared with her family. She enjoyed numerous fishing trips with family and friends. Her husband Clarence preceded her in death on November 12, 1987 in Primghar. She remained in the family home in Primghar until making her home at the Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon and most recently at the Paullina Care Center in Paullina. She passed away at the care center on Friday, February 1, 2008 reaching the age of 87 years, 3 months and 28 days.
