DONALD E. LARSON
Donald E. Larson, the son of A.C. and Emma (Resene) Larson was born in Primghar, Iowa on July 30, 1925. He graduated from Gaza High School in 1943. He went into the Marines serving during W.W. II for two years. After his discharge, he attended Drake University in Des Moines for one year. He was united in marriage to Mildred Geerdes at the Congregational Church in Primghar in 1948. The couple farmed south of Primghar until 2009 when they moved to Primghar. Don was a long-time member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. Mildred passed away on January 18, 2012 in Primghar. Donald remained in the family home until he entered Prairie View Retirement Home in September of 2016. He passed away at Prairie View on Sunday, January 15, 2017 reaching the age of 91 years, 5 months and 15 days.
Don is survived by three children, Mark (Toni) Larson of Rigby, Idaho; David (Marjorie) Larson of Primghar, Iowa and Debra (Gary) Holst of Idaho Falls, Idaho; five grandchildren, Michael Larson and Richard Larson of Raleigh, North Carolina; Jessica (Tom) Mathisen of Urbandale, Iowa; Taylor (Melia) Larson of Iowa City, Iowa and Jon (Joy) Larson of Ankeny, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Hadley and Ella Mathisen and Lauryn Larson and Carver Larson; also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother, Carl Larson and one sister, Bernice Thompson.
