DONALD W. DON KRUGER
Donald Wayne Kruger, the son of Alfred and Myrtle (Evans) Kruger, was born on April 24, 1928 on a farm near Sheldon, IA. He attended school near Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon Community High School in 1946. He then attended a year of college at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. Don then started working for the Burt Cooperative Creamery in Burt, IA. On March 5, 1950, Don was united in marriage to Gwen Marlys Mann in Burt, IA; the couple moved to a farm east of Ritter, IA for several years, then moved to a farm northwest of Sheldon, where they farmed and raised livestock until moving into Sheldon in 1997. Don kept busy in his retirement working for Rome Ltd. and PK Pest Control both of Sheldon. Don passed away on November 28, 2015 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 87 years, 7 months and 4 days.
Don was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon, the church council, Sunday school superintendent; he was on the board of directors for Production Credit Association and REC. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, playing cards, watching his Iowa Hawkeyes and the Green Bay Packers and his coffee group.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Gwen of 65 years; their three children, Alan (Mary) Kruger of Oelwein, IA; David (Cheryl) Kruger of Ashton, IA; Kathy (Gerry) Seivert of Sheldon, IA; ten grandchildren, Chelley (Jason) Klatt, Amanda (Andy) Plathe, Adam (Andrea) Kruger, Will Hartman, Jane (Blake) Baker, Cami (Josh) Oberbroeckling, Michael (Jeri) Kruger, Daniel (Alissa) Kruger, Jennifer (Ben) Van Beek, Brian (Lyndsay) Seivert; fifteen great-grandchildren, Annie and Abbie Klatt, Isabelle and Jameson Elliott, Jocelyn and Nolan Schwartz, Alyvia, Addilyn and Abrym Plathe, Cale and Lyla Kruger, Charlee and Chandler Kruger, Jeremiah and Jacob Kruger; two brothers and a sister, John and Dolores Kruger of Sheldon; Audrey and Bob Magnuson of Portland, OR; Alfred and Linda Kruger of Sheldon and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Myrtle Kruger; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Marv Horn and an infant sister, Marilyn.
