DIANE J. GLASSFORD
Diane Jewel Glassford, the daughter of Elmer and E. Jewel (Godwin) Nielsen, was born January 4, 1943 in LeMars, Iowa. She attended country school and later school in Paullina, graduating from Paullina High School in 1961. She spent most of her life in the Paullina area where for many years she was employed at Lange’s Café as a waitress, cook and bartender until her retirement. The last few years she made her home at the Paullina Care Center. She passed away at the Orange City Hospital in Orange City, Iowa, reaching the age of 64 years and 18 days.
She was baptized in the Danish Lutheran Church and later confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Oyens, Iowa. She was currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.
Diane is survived by a daughter, Renee and her husband, Jody Hurtig of Paullina; four grandchildren, Tanya and her husband, Chris Wheeler, Tori, Tyler and Taylor Hurtig, all of Paullina; a great granddaughter, Hannah Wheeler; her mother, E. Jewel Nielsen of Paullina, Iowa; a brother, David and his wife, Donna Nielsen of Bremerton, Washington and a sister, Surella and her husband, Gary Huitt of Perry, Iowa; also nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and special friend, Burnell “Pretz” Ewoldt.
