DENNIS D. LOWDER
Dennis D. Lowder, the son of Gladys A. (Good) and Harry M. Lowder was born April 19, 1943 in Cherokee, Iowa. He received his education in schools in Cherokee. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1960 and upon receiving his discharge, he met his wife Carol Riedemann, the daughter of Clifford and Leona Riedemann. The couple was married on June 11, 1966 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. After their marriage the couple lived in Waverly, Nebraska, where he was employed in automotive retail. The couple moved to Sheldon to make their home in 1986, where he was employed at Arnold Motor Supply in Sheldon. He passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2007, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa, reaching the age of 63 years, 9 months and 1 day.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sheldon. He enjoyed working with all his co-workers at Arnold Motor Supply. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his four granddaughters; it was always a special treat for grandpa to take them for ice cream cones. He enjoyed starting the morning with a cup of coffee with his wife. Other enjoyments were traveling and taking little drives with his wife, fishing, being outdoors and working in his garden. He was a collector of pedal cars and had one for each of his granddaughters.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carol J. Lowder of Sheldon; two daughters, Brenda S. Langland and Bridget A. and her husband, Cory J. Brown all of Paullina; a son, Brandon D. and his wife, Dana J. Lowder of Sgt. Bluff, Iowa; four grandchildren, Karissa Langland, Jessica Brown and Emma and Kaylee Lowder; his mother-in-law, Leona Riedemann of Paullina; step-mother, Mary Ellen Lowder of Sioux City; two sisters, Janet and her husband, Roger Sleezer of Cherokee and Judy VanHouse of Alexandria, Virginia; Carol’s family, Virgil and Pat Riedemann of Cherokee; Char and Warren Hartman of Annandale, Minnesota and Dwane and Judy Riedemann of Sutherland; also nine nieces and nephews; twelve great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dad –

You gave no one a last farewell,
Nor ever said goodbye.
You were gone before we knew it,
And only God knows why.
A million times we’ll miss you
A million times we’ll cry.
If love alone could have saved you
You would never have died.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place,
No one else can ever fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God took you home.
We will meet again someday,
I know in a better place.
I thank God; He made you my Dad,
Now go and walk in peace.
Love always
Brenda & Karissa
Cory, Bridget & Jess
Brandon, Dana, Emma & Kaylee
