DELVIN D. MEYER
Delvin Dean Meyer was called to his heavenly home just 5 days shy of his 63rd birthday on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. He was born November 17, 1946 to Lorenz and Lucile (Jurgensen) Meyer in Cherokee County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa, where he was a currently a member. Delvin received his education at St. John Lutheran School in Germantown through the eighth grade. Then he transferred to the Paullina High School. On April 18, 1969, Delvin married Mary Jane Daum and to this union one child was born. He worked jobs as a tire man, running a gas station, working for various farmers and for 28 years he has driven a cement truck most recently with Alliance Concrete out of Cherokee.
He enjoyed going to dances, auctions, tractor rides, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Delvin is survived by a daughter, Angie and her husband, Aaron Schnoes of Oyens, Iowa; a grandson, Anthony Schnoes; his mother, Lucile Meyer of Sutherland; two sisters, Donna and her husband, Harold Butcher of Calumet; Diana and her husband, Dennis Kessler of Storm Lake; two brothers, Dorrance and his wife, Barbara Meyer of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Dale Meyer of Markesan, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; Lorenz Meyer in 1983.
