Delores M. Shilling

Services for Delores M. Shilling, age 86, of Cherokee formerly of Sutherland who passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Cherokee Specialty Care. A private family service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Burial will be at Liberty Township Cemetery in Calumet.
There will be no visitation.

Delores Meta Runge, the daughter of Fritz and Ella (Puhrmann) Runge was born on March 17, 1934 in Cherokee, Iowa. She grew up on a farm northwest of Larrabee and attended Larrabee schools. In 1953 she graduated from Larrabee High School. She married Oscar Mews and to this union four sons were born, Ricky, Randy, Timmy, and Danny Mews. Delores was a homemaker and loved to have her grandchildren at “The Ranch”. Later in life she married Earl Shilling. Delores remained in Sutherland until moving to Cherokee Specialty Care in April of 2020. She passed away at Cherokee Specialty Care on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 reaching the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 6 days.
Delores loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed solitaire and drinking coffee.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ricky (Ann) Mews, Randy Mews, Timmy (Jolene) Mews and Danny Mews; grandchildren, Heath (Jill) Mews, Holly (Josh) Jacobson and Tonya (Justin) Smith; great grandchildren, Mirabella Mews, Isaac and Faith Jacobson and Jorja and Savanna Smith; sister, Shirley Runge; also, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Ella; husbands, Oscar Mews and Earl Shilling; sisters, Dorothy (Alvin) Beermann, Alice (Vernon) Halstrom, Betty (James) Strilka; brothers, Dale, Roger and David Runge and nephew, Dean Beermann.
