DELORES M. GERSTANDT

Delores Mae Gerstandt, the daughter of Edward and Alice (Kuehl) Reimers was born January 23, 1926 in Cherokee, Iowa. She received her education in Calumet and graduated from Calumet High School. On August 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to Herman Gerstandt at the United Church of Christ in Calumet. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Calumet and Larrabee, Iowa areas. The couple moved into Paullina in 1975 to make their home. The couple’s retirement years were spent in Paullina. Herman preceded her in death on March 26, 1998 in Primghar. Delores remained in the family home until moving to the Prairie View Assisted Living in Sanborn. In January of 2007, she moved to the Prairie View Retirement Home. She passed away at Prairie View on Monday, November 23, 2009 reaching the age of 83 years, and 10 months.
She was a member of the United Church of Primghar and enjoyed crocheting, dancing, playing cards and flowers.
Delores is survived by two sons and their wives, Marvin and Cecilia Gerstandt of Paullina and Dennis and Laurie Gerstandt of Cherokee; one daughter and her husband, Linda and Marvin Hoy of Prior Lake, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Joseph and his wife, Gina Gerstandt; Christine and her husband, Randy Walker; Jennifer and her husband, Jackson Raygor, Nathan and his wife, Anna Hoy; Matthew Hoy, Tyler and Nicole Gerstandt; also eight great-grandchildren, Gillian Mae Gerstandt, Hadyn Knutson, Mitchell and Meghan Walker, Eric and William Hoy, Emma and Max Raygor; one brother-in-law, Leonard Kuester of Calumet and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and his wife, Duane and Vi Reimers and one sister, Carol Kuester.
