CLIFFORD E. MILLER
Clifford Edward Miller, son of John and Mary (Ebert) Miller was born December 25, 1921 in Marcus Township Cherokee County, Iowa. He attended Liberty Twp # 3 country school, and completed his education at Cleghorn High School graduating on May 17, 1939. He began his farming career by being a farm hand in the Paullina area. On October 28, 1945, he was united in marriage to June Puhrmann at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters and two sons. The couple farmed on the Miller family farm, north of Cleghorn, where they remained until retiring to Paullina in December 1992. In February of 2009, they moved to the Heartland Care Center in Marcus where he passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 reaching the age of 88 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Clifford was baptized on January 20, 1922 at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina by Rev. A.H. Semmann and later confirmed on May 22, 1938 at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. John Hartmeister along with his brother, Leland. In 1970, he became a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Synod, in Sioux City. During his lifetime, Clifford served on various boards and committees. Clifford loved family gatherings, woodworking, jigsaw puzzles, and playing the Concertina.
Clifford is survived by his wife, June of 65 years, three children and their spouses, Paul and Janet Miller of Paullina, Nancy and Glenn Eckert of Lawton, Jim and Traci Miller of Remsen; 9 grandchildren, Travis Miller, Heather (Bill) Bremer, Tyler Miller; Sarah, Aaron, and Katie Eckert; Cameron, Courtney and Carver Miller; 2 great granddaughters, Annika and Jillian Bremer; three sisters, Verlie Yockey of Sioux City, Veniece Young of Cleghorn and Vera Stoltze of Sioux City; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Faye, parents, three brothers, Vernelle, Leland and Eldon and one sister, Mildred Van Dyke.
